About Bacws Haf
I fell in love with baking when I was a tot, helping my Nain to prepare fantastic feasts for family gatherings. I then ran my very own catering company named Cegin Haf back in Aberystwyth when in secondary school.
Since then I have continued to bake, selling as local farmers markets in Cardiff and supplying a number of local coffee shops. As a teacher and mother I am always keen to consider healthy seasonal ingredients while making any cooking session fun and interesting.
I had my own stall in the Cardiff Farmers market and organised mini markets around local primary schools to educate primary pupils about healthy seasonal ingredients and teaching cookery in school.
Santa delivered me a kitchen at the age of 3 so he is responsible for my passion for cooking. Even before that I used to lay out a picnic of shoes and what I could find and invite the family to feast on the living room floor. My first practical experience was joining my Auntie Sally at Ucheldre Centre who taught me to bake everything from the simplest victoria sponge to the huge lemon meringue pie.
Nowadays, I love to experiment with different methods of cake decoration and have created a few competition enteries, winning the first ever Tafwyl Bakeoff and winning a few others locally. You can always learn more though and finding something new on Pinterest always excites me. I’m also a teacher and love to pass on the things I have learnt along the way.
We are both passionate and obsessed with baking and all types of cooking and have been perfecting our skills from a very early age.
Ian prefers to add extra icing and more sugar in his bakes, creating the perfect balance at Bacws Haf!
